We are so lucky here in the Dandenong Ranges and its surrounding valleys. When you've been away for any length of time, you realise on the drive home how lush and green it really is here. With the blue mountains in the distance, the creeks and forests, birds, and wildlife, it really is a stunning little pocket of Victoria.
Growing up here, I was always intrigued to hear stories of gemstones in the area. One I heard was that Emerald got its name from the green stones collected in the nearby creeks, however, what were initially thought to be emeralds were actually determined to be vivid green sapphires.
With this pendant, we have drawn inspiration from the blue of the towering mountains surrounding us, the lush green of the ferns in the valleys, and that sparkle as the sun glistens on the water as the creeks cascade over the rocks. Usding both sapphire and emerald in the design is our little nod to the naming of our neighbouring town.
